Polish Catholic Mission News
Members of the Polish Catholic Mission of Memphis, along
with Father Kazimierz Abrahamczyk, recently participated in the XXI
Piesza Polonijna Pielgrzymka Maryjna XXII Polish Marian Pilgrimage to
Chicago do
Sanktuarium Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej from Chicago to
the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Merrillville, Indiana. The
motto of this year's pilgrimage was Mary, the
Star of Hope.
"This was a wonderful experience," said Father
Abrahamczyk. "After such a strenuous walk, we were very tired, but very
light in our souls. We fellowshipped with others, sang religious songs,
and constantly prayed for the sick and infirm. It was great to see such
a large number of young people taking part in the event. There were
between five and six thousand people who participated in the march. The
logistics of the event was excellent, thanks be to God for all the
people who made this event happen."
The Polish Catholic Mission of Memphis will prepare a
typical Polish dinner to be held September 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady
of Perpetual Help Church, located at 8151 Poplar Ave. in Germantown. To
make reservations, call 901-743-4551. The reservation deadline is
September 20.
